The death penalty should be abolished since it has become outdated. President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema recently made a remark with this crucial point in mind. On the occasion of Africa Day, the president of Zambia made the announcement that he intended to completely abolish the death sentence. Together with renowned businessman and philanthropist Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, this assertion received support from all around the nation. In an interview with "Mast Newspaper," Dr. Mahtani claimed that the death sentence was cruel, brutal, and degrading and that it no longer had any relevance in the current political and criminal climate. Dr. Rajan Mahtani added that there may be a significant difference between making such pronouncements and ensuring that they become reality because the process necessitates significant adjustments, criminal justice reforms, and overcoming resistance from related tactics. As a result, Dr.Rajan Mahtani stated that he would provide legal and regulatory assistance to ensure that the Zambian President's choice soon becomes reality. Prison Fellowship Zambia is one of the charity organizations that Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani owns (PFZ). It is a well-known Christian outreach program that aims to give Zambian prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families access to transparent criminal justice, fundamental human rights, and basic human dignity. As such, Prison Fellowship is a right platform for supporting the decisions from the Zambian President. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani echoed the president of Zambia in saying that the death penalty had already been abolished internationally and that it was time for Zambia to move forward with this. Dr. Mahtani further lauded President Hakainde by pointing out that while previous presidents have strategically avoided the death penalty, none of them have sincerely worked to see that this law is repealed.
