Zambia Observes Momentous Decision After Zambian President’s Decision.


When the current president of Zambia revealed his plans to end the practice of the death penalty in the legal system, the criminal justice system in Zambia witnessed a momentous occasion. Numerous people in Zambia and outside the country expressed support for this declaration, including well-known businessman and philanthropist Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani. On the eve of Africa Day, President Hakainde Hichilema proclaimed his efforts to end the death penalty. Prison Fellowship Zambia (PFZ) founder and current chairman Dr.Rajan Mahtani enthusiastically endorsed this declaration. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is renowned throughout Zambia for his numerous charitable endeavors that span several decades. Dr. Mahtani, for instance, created the Stephen Malama medal and fellowship for the best law graduates in Zambia. This honor comes with a sizeable monetary prize of 15,000 Kwacha, which offers the qualifying pupils significant support. Similarly, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani founded Prison Fellowship Zambia (PFZ), a Christian Outreach Program, to impart to prisoners the teachings and lessons of Jesus Christ. The organization was founded more than 37 years ago and has since emerged as Zambia's premier outreach program for ensuring that detainees, former detainees, and their families receive access to criminal justice, a fair trial, and basic human rights. The Zambian President's declaration received the full support of Dr.Rajan Mahtani and his group, who also praised the president for making such a risky but wise action. Dr. Rajan Mahtani praised the President and stated that only someone who is passionate, compassionate, and understands the importance of fundamental human rights could achieve such success.
