Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is a noted businessman and philanthropist from Zambia. For more than four decades, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has engaged in business and philanthropic contributions with the objective of the development and welfare of the Zambian economy and its people. After several decades of selfless service, the contributions made by Dr. Rajan Mahtani were finally recognized at an international level. This recognition came in the form of Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards category. Forbes is among the top business magazines across the globe and is known for creating several rankings and lists of businesses, people, industries, riches, and many more. As such, the ‘Best of Africa’ awards were given to the top philanthropists and leaders from entire Africa. As a result, the awards hold high significance and provide global recognition to the leaders. Similarly, the process of selecting the recipients is extremely transparent yet rigorous, comprising of months of verification processes, background checks followed by interviews, and discussions with the potential recipients to understand their perception towards philanthropy as a means to achieve long-term empowerment of the African nation.
After looking into the various aspects, the final recipients were selected and awarded during the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award ceremony. Dr. Mahtani, for his significant contributions towards redefining the banking sector of Zambia, was conferred with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021. The Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards were presented during the annual Forbes-FIN philanthropy roundtable conference. This roundtable conference was held online as a result of the ongoing pandemic. Members participated from their respective locations. Dr. Rajan Mahtani, who was the only major businessman from Zambia to receive this award, thanked and humbly accepted the award.
