Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, noted businessperson and philanthropist from Zambia, was recently conferred with one of the most prestigious and notable philanthropy awards in Zambia. This award was known as the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards, and it was presented during the annual Forbes-FIN philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference. Dr. Rajan Mahtani was also invited in this roundtable conference as an honorary speaker and discussed about the significance of leadership in healthcare. The roundtable conference was held virtually to comply with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and members attended the conference from their respective locations. The conference was broadcasted across the globe via YouTube medium. Several members attended the conference including international business committee members, opinion leaders, political leaders, religious leaders, media partners along with international investors.
In a similar manner, the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award ceremony was hosted during the roundtable conference. The award ceremony is presented by Forbes itself which is among the most respected and regarded business magazines across the globe. Forbes is known across the globe for its rankings and lists. As such, the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award ceremony hold high significance. In a similar manner, the awardees are selected after rigorous assessment and evaluation. This evaluation comprises months of verification processes and background checks. This is followed by interviews and discussions with the potential candidates regarding their viewpoints and opinions about philanthropy as a means to achieve long-term empowerment across the Zambian nation. Based on these evaluations as well as other contributions made by Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani over the course of four decades, Forbes presented Dr. Rajan Mahtani with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021.
