Being one of the most transparent and honest businessmen in Zambia, fake news, reputational attacks are common for Dr. Rajan Mahtani and most of these are from jealous entities. Recently, Dr. Rajan Mahtani faced a similar situation when a social media post was shared with fake claims against him. However, the most controversial aspect of this social media post was the person who posted it. By the virtue of his business, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has made numerous friends and networks over the years. One of them was Levy Mwanawasa, the late former President of Zambia with whom Dr. Rajan Mahtani maintained a long-lasting friendship. As a result, it was extremely surprising when it was found that Miriam Mwanawasa, the daughter of the late ex-President of Zambia posted the social media post. In this Facebook Post, Miriam Mwanawasa claimed that Dr. Rajan Mahtani wanted to inherit the farmland at Masaiti which belongs to the Mwanawasa family. This Facebook post was extremely ludicrous and therefore, Dr. Rajan Mahtani decided to take action by releasing a press statemen.
In this press release, Dr. Rajan Mahtani confirmed that though he has maintained a long-lasting and transparent friendship with Levy Mwanawasa, he never made any such claims or requests to the Mwanawasa family. At the same time, the press release also asked for evidence or proof of the controversial claim made by Miriam Mwanawasa, which was unsurprisingly lacking. Dr. Rajan Mahtani also noted that this controversial Facebook post was made only for damaging the reputation of an honest businessman. As a result, Dr. Rajan Mahtani further said that he will be taking stringent action against this act.
