Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, a noted businessman and philanthropist from Zambia, was recently awarded with Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards. The Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ is one of the most prestigious and noted award ceremonies across Africa. The awards are given to philanthropists and visionaries with a penchant towards long-term empowerment of the African continent. Forbes is one of the top business magazines across the globe and as a result, the awards provide global recognition for the winners. Furthermore, the awards are presented after rigorous selection process which involves months of verification and background checks by both Forbes and FIN, along with interviews and discussions with the potential recipients to understand their vision and perception towards philanthropy to achieve long-term empowerment across the African subcontinent.
The Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards were a part of the FIN philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference. This roundtable conference is an annual event which invites visionaries, businessmen and entrepreneurs across Africa. This year, the event was held online as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and members participated from their respective locations. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was also invited in the event as an honorary speaker and spoke about the significance of leadership in healthcare sector for its upliftment. Forbes recognized the significant contributions by Dr. Mahtani and conferred him with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021 for redefining the banking sector of Zambia. It should be noted here that Dr. Rajan Mahtani was the only businessman from Zambia to be conferred with this prestigious award.
Dr. Mahtani is known for his numerous business, philanthropic and charitable contributions. Some of his major philanthropic contributions are Prison Fellowship Zambia and Stephen Malama award and scholarship for top law graduates in Zambia.
