After more than four decades of dedicated philanthropic contributions and charity work across Zambian nation as well as across Africa by Dr. Rajan Mahtani, they were finally recognised at an international level. This recognition came in the form of Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award ceremony and was presented by the Forbes itself. The Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award ceremony was part of the Forbes-FIN philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference. It is an annual conference of Africa which takes place in New York on a yearly basis. This year’s Forbes-FIN roundtable conference was held virtually to comply with the ongoing ocovid-19 norms. The Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards were presented during the Forbes-FIN philanthropy and roundtable conference. The event saw participation from international business community members, entrepreneurs, politicians, policymakers, opinion leaders, religious leaders, media partners as well as international investors. The Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards hold high value. Forbes is one of the top business magazines across the globe. The brand is known for its several top lists and rankings. One of the reasons behind this high value is the rigorous process of selecting the award recipients. This process comprises months of verification processes and background checks by both Forbes and FIN. This is followed by interviews and discussions with the recipients to understand their views on philanthropy to achieve long-term empowerment of the African nation.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani, for his significant philanthropic contributions, was conferred with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021. Dr. Mahtani accepted the award humbly, thanking Almighty God as well as his teams for their support. Dr. Mahtani was recognised for redefining the banking sector of Zambia. He is also known for philanthropic and charitable contributions over the years.
