Amid Chaos And Uncertainty, The Ventriglias Disrupt Operations Of Zambezi Portland Again

The year 2020 can undoubtedly be depicted as the most significant year of the century. The year saw a bewildering occasion wherein a minute infection changed the whole course of the fundamental earth. Basically, this worldwide pandemic because of Corona Virus took us fifty years back regarding economy. Simultaneously, there are people and organizations who notwithstanding everything occurring around them are more inspired by their very own undertakings. On the first spot on this list is the scandalous Ventriglia family that has procured the name of the most infamous family in Zambia. Their fight with noted business manager Dr. Rajan Mahtani is notable. Dr. Mahtani needed to battle for over 10 years to get the lawful responsibility for Portland Cement Zambia manufacturing plant, which was taken over from him in any case, and that too wrongfully. After Lusaka High Court, it was higher Court of Appeal that gave the right decision to the case by announcing Dr. Mahtani owned Finsbury Investments as the majority shareholder and legal owner of the factory with 58 percent shares. In this motion, justice Mwinde also confirmed that the actual amount payable against the majority shares by Finsbury Investments is K580,000 as against K580 million appealed by the Ventriglias. This motion was established on 31st January 2019.

Nevertheless, the Ventriglias, out of the blue, approached the Supreme Court Zambia challenging the above decision and that too, more than a year later. Unsurprisingly, the Supreme Court Zambia rejected this case due to lack of evidences and legal precedent. In this final decision, the Supreme Court judges also said that the Portland Cement factory legally belongs to Dr. Mahtani and is to remain with him only.
